Frequently Asked Questions

How does making the belt flat increase cleaning efficiency?

Problem: Many times when installing a secondary belt cleaner, the belt is low tensioned or it has developed a cupped shape from being troughed on the topside. Both of these conditions cause problems for the belt cleaner. The belt cleaner may chase the belt trying to get enough blade tension on the belt, or the cleaner will not make even and continuous contact with the belt surface across the belt's width. In either circumstance it is very difficult or downright impossible to do a good cleaning job.

Solution: A flat, tensioned belt is the easiest belt to clean. When encountering these belt problems, a hold-down/stabilizing roller is the answer. Locating it in front or behind the belt cleaner will flatten the belt and hold it in place to get the best cleaning performance. Flexco has made the job even easier with the introduction of a new universal mounting bracket. The Stabilizing Roller Bracket Kit is adjustable to fit a wide variety of conveyor structures. It features a unique roller-locking retainer so the  return idler, regardless of brand, can be used as the hold-down roller. The Stabilizing Roller Bracket Kit is quick and easy to install and maximizes the belt cleaner's effectiveness.

Handy Hint: You should consider a hold-down roller with every secondary cleaner install. Using the hold-down roller, you can lock the belt into position around the belt cleaner. Then no matter what changes occur on the rest of the beltline, the cleaner will continue to perform at maximum efficiency.
